SPONDYLOS Rigo-Cheneau

The climax of Advanced Knowledge is

the SPONDYLOS Rigo-Cheneau system

For every unique case of Scoliosis (Thoracic, Thoracolumbar, Double, etc.), a different brace is designed

which is unique to each patient and is complemented by exercises of the Schroth system.

The asymmetric 3D scoliosis brace SPONDYLOS Rigo-Cheneau

  • Corrects Scoliosis
  • Is functional (fastens in front)
  • It has a perfect fit (not visible through the clothes)
  • It is different for each child (14 main model Types)

The principle of treatment is the Individual Model

Rigo-Cheneau brace is the evolution of the standard designs for spinal braces for the treatment of scoliosis. It is based on the basic principles of Dr. Chêneau, which were further developed by Dr. Rigo.

Individual type determination and diagnosis is made by a scoliosis expert.

So that each Rigo-Cheneau brace is made individually for each patient.

Because misunderstandings have been created about the Rigo-Cheneau brace, is not a brace type like the others, that is Boston, DDB, etc., which are characterized by a brace shape,

but is the brace based in the scoliosis classification according to Dr Rigo.

Which means that depending on the scoliosis, an original brace model is created, which does not look like anything else.

How does it work?

In essence SPONDYLOS Rigo-Cheneau is a tridimensional brace.

By exercising pressures at various levels forming the scoliosis curves of scoliosis and with a concurrent relief in the concave side at multiple levels.

It is perfectly functional in all children’s activities, as It allows free movement by wearing it even in some sports activities that have no requirements for bending forward.

SPONDYLOS Rigo-Cheneau scoliosis treatment system

The system is not a scoliosis brace, but a holistic treatment system

Clearly complies with international, scientifically defined guidelines.

Application times as well as controls and control appointments are defined in the treatment protocol.

Objectives of the SPONDYLOS Rigo-Cheneau system

1. To stop the progression of scoliosis and reduce the initial angle by at least the half

2. To maintain the flexibility and mobility of the spine

3. To improve the aesthetic appearance

4. To maintain and improve overall general health

5. to improve the quality of life

Application time of Rigo-Cheneau brace

The application times are dependent on certain parameters like the size of the angle and age. In principle there are three variants of application time:

1. at the night (night or overnight use) ~ 8 hours / 24 hours

2. part time ~ 16 hours / 24 hours

3. full time ~ 21 hours / 24 hours

Brace adjustment periods

The adjustment period (tightening of the straps as defined) is organized in 3 stages, which have a logical and functional structure:

1. at night, before going to bed (for night application)

2. in the afternoon, before applying the brace (for part time application)

3. in the morning, as soon as we wake up (for full time application)

First control appointment for major scoliosis

6-8 weeks after reaching the specified application time

  • Brace check (checks on operation, corrective pressures)
  • Anthropometric data (height, weight)
  • Check with a scoliometer of the hump
  • Surface topography (Formetric 4D) / clinical examination of digital images
  • Anteroposterior x-ray with the brace applied

1st trimester appointment for all scoliosis

  • Brace check (checks on operation, corrective pressures)
  • Anthropometric data (height, weight)
  • Check with a scoliometer of the hump
  • Surface topography (Formetric 4D) / clinical examination of digital images

After that checking every three months except unexpectedly (large increase in height, pelvis, weight)

X-rays are usually taken at the end of treatment unless needed earlier.

The tests are performed with surface topography methods (scoliometer, Formetric 4D)

Why are quarterly checks needed?

Braces need modifications and corrections as the children get older. New findings of treatment effectiveness are analyzed and integrated into the treatment.

Meetings increase the patient’s confidence and give him the courage to continue treatment. Questions and misconceptions about the application of treatment are also resolved.

How it is made?

The body of the patient is scanned with a Handheld Laser Scanner and a digital mold is created. Then the digital mold is processed in a specialized CAD – CAM program.

  • It lasts less than 5 minutes
  • It does not generate radiation which is dangerous for the patient
  • It does not create psychological problems to the adolescent, as with the old method of applying plaster

Procedure

The patient is scanned wearing a tight white shirt. Scanning is done by shifting the laser beam to the patient’s body, while the built-in capture camera transmits in real-time on the computer screen its motion as if it were painting someone with a paint roller, the patient’s body. Finishing the scan file is saved, which illustrates the scanned body. The result is the exact taking of the patient’s three-dimensional scanned body.

Depending on the brace we wish to construct, the necessary corrections are made to the CAD-CAM, so that in the end the digital mold takes the form it needs to be able to process it in Carver.

Is it the same for everyone or are there different types?

There are 14 SPONDYLOS-Rigo-Cheneau models. One of each type of Scoliosis and infinite combinations.
